AFRICAN BLACK MEN ARE BEING HUNTED AND KILLED IN USA .. ALTON STERLING.

Alton Sterling's 15year old son and wife during a press conference yesterday.
What is freedom when you are an African American? What makes the non-colored different and why is there a man hunt out for them all?? What does it really mean to be free but get shot when you act … free?

I usually do not talk about issues like this on my blog, but after stumbling on the video of Alton Sterlings recorded killing on facebook, I had a change of heart. Sterling was a 37year old African American male who sold DVD’s for a living outside a convenient store. A 911 call was placed describing a man fitting Sterlings description that was armed and when the police arrived, they both held him down and he died after 5bullets were flooded in his chest. Now these officers have been put on administrative leave. The video is all over the internet of how a man died in broad daylight after been shot in the chest by two police officers in Baton Rouge Louisiana.

The painful thing is how his kids would be able to watch the death of their father over and over again because this hurtful video is everywhere online plus the fact that the officers involved have been placed on administrative leave (probably eating Taco’s and watching Netflix). Then you ask yourself don’t all lives matter and why does this always happen to the black community??

Now Alton Sterlings case is many of a few “recorded” broad daylight killings of alleged black men in possession of arms but after the death of these men that range from 12 and above it was discovered they never were in possession of said arms. But they were killed and these officers go home and toast to a stressful day like an innocent man’s blood isn’t on their hands (maybe only if he was white). Then you have to ask about the cases that were never recorded, the wrongful deaths that couldn’t be put on video or were not recorded. What about them because even the videos of obvious deaths, justice is still hard to claim.

This week we were greeted to news that Oscar Pistorious paralympic blade runner was sentenced to 6years in prison after killing his girlfriend in 2014 who was using the toilet, claiming he heard noises and thought it was a burglar. Then you have to ask yourself if it was a black man would he have received the same treatment?! Would he get 6 or 60yrs with hard labor?! If Reeva was black the case would have been closed that night.  Where is freedom? What is justice? Who is truly free, the book or the man??

There is a growing number of angry young black men, angry before birth because they have to be strong for what the world has to offer, strong to know the foundation the world was laid in and prepared to face even if it means giving all they have. We don’t need angry men, I am in Nigeria and I am very angry at the madness that’s happening over there.

People scream when every time an injustice is dealt you have to play the race card. With what happens repetitively, it’s not that farfetched #PullUpTheRaceCard. Even with the case of the Chimpanzee and the kid that fell in its den, the race card was played, with people saying if the ape was white would it have been shot?! At that time it was funny, I felt it was too much. But now? Not so much… who’s laughing now?!

This brings me to the highly inspiring speech that Jesse Williams gave at the just concluded BET awards after receiving the humanitarian award of the year. We haven’t finished watching reruns and another shooting has occurred. By-the-way to all those signing petitions to kick him out of Greys Anatomy, you all are brain-dead and congratulations you just played yourself.

Here is my  highlights of his speech;
Now, this award – this is not for me. This is for the real organizers all over the country – the activists, the civil rights attorneys, the struggling parents, the families, the teachers, the students that are realizing that a system built to divide and impoverish and destroy us cannot stand if we do.Now, what we’ve been doing is looking at the data and we know that police somehow manage to deescalate, disarm and not kill white people everyday. So what’s going to happen is we are going to have equal rights and justice in our own country or we will restructure their function and ours..yesterday would have been young Tamir Rice’s 14th birthday so I don’t want to hear anymore about how far we’ve come when paid public servants can pull a drive-by on 12 year old playing alone in the park in broad daylight, killing him on television and then going home to make a sandwich. Tell Rekia Boyd how it’s so much better than it is to live in 2012 than it is to live in 1612 or 1712. Tell that toEric Garner. Tell that to Sandra Bland. Tell that to Dorian Hunt.There has been no war that we have not fought and died on the front lines of. There has been no job we haven’t done. There is no tax they haven’t leveed against us – and we’ve paid all of them. But freedom is somehow always conditional here. “You’re free,” they keep telling us. But she would have been alive if she hadn’t acted so… free.
We’ve been floating this country on credit for centuries, yo, and we’re done watching and waiting while this invention called whiteness uses and abuses us, burying black people out of sight and out of mind while extracting our culture, our dollars, our entertainment like oil – black gold, ghettoizing and demeaning our creations then stealing them, gentrifying our genius and then trying us on like costumes before discarding our bodies like rinds of strange fruit. The thing is though… the thing is that just because we’re magic doesn’t mean we’re not real.

Now you have to know your demon. What I have realized from videos and what I have read is that these men kill Black people out of fear, intimidation, and race. Mostly fear because you hate what you fear.

  1. Saw the video of the shooting and almost puked all over myself. He was murdered in broad daylight. Shot at not once, but five good times! That is an intention to kill. Are blackmen truly safe in the US?! #blacklivesmatter!!!
    Maybe we are not chanting it loud enough!
